I just can't stand it anymore so today I started working on putting menu.txt of its misery. I saw some weird wording in the mission descriptions also so I'll see if I get round to that too.

I do not know what version or modifications your running but I have never noticed a single typographical error in the game.

dharthoorn 12-06-13 09:48 AM

Running TMO + RSRD.

Typo/incorrect grammar/general crooked english examples in menu.txt

32=Carrer name already used. Overwrite it?
99=This name already exist!
116=DOCKS - Wilhelshaven

Not a big deal probably many you will probably never see. There's more in the mission decriptions like; "enage en destory" instead of "engage and destroy".

You do realize english is not the official language of many countries and many of the modders here at subsim actually live in other countries?

The game itself was created by a French company. Their studio was in Romania with Romanian employees.

They opened a second studio in Romania in 2008.

The modders do a lot of very good work so I would go easy on the, "I just can't stand it anymore". After all ... it is still only a game. It just happens to be a very good one.:yeah:

just a FYI in here, while many spelling errors are there it is important to note there are a few misnamed locations that look wrong but are actually correct because they were labeled differently during the time period of the war and in todays time they are labeled differently.

just something to keep in mind when you are correcting things :salute:

And the typos are in game files, not the game itself. I suspect there isn't a lot of proof reading because it doesn't matter as long as we can tell what it's supposed to be.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for the coders and modders of this game. A few typos are not gamebreaking at all for me.

It's intended as a small tweak where I correct/improve some small mistake.

And that sense of "improving" the game, in any area where you feel capable and willing to do so is at the very heart of every mod that has ever been created, attempted, or discussed.

Good for you, have fun with it! Once you have been bitten by the bug, who knows where it may lead. :up:

I doubt you will find any typos anywhere except in files you can edit with a text editor. So when frustration exceeds inertia, it should be easy to hunt down and correct the errors. Then you can go back to enjoying the game.

There are lots of little nits that can spoil the immersion. How about "Dive! Dive! Dive!" followed by THREE blasts on the dive alarm? Had to fix that buzz-killer! Fortunately, most bugs like that are easy to fix and accessible.

Now, if I could only get my bridge watch to go below when we dive!

They're just following my orders and remaining on station no matter what.

You won't get any help that way.

You're in the Navy. Call for a Corpsman.
