Texture Help ..... aaarrrghhhh !
Folks,
any texture guru's out there ? I am adding playable ships into TSWSM and I've got an issue with a ship (Karl94's HMS Hood V1.1) and textures .... the lighting is working wrong ... what I mean is, in a test mission, with sunlight (no clouds or light clouds) I get a sunlit side of the ship and a shaded side of the ship ..... which sounds fine but they are in reverse to any other ship I have, and worse still the light / shade are in reverse to the gun turrets. So Port side is lit up and starboard side is in shade, if I launch any other ship in same mission, then starboard side is lit and port side is in shade. It doesn't seem to matter whether or not I use the SH4 unified render controller or the SH3 legacy controllers in the .DAT file .... same results. Any ideas ? |
well it sounds like a simple typo in the port/starboard thing but I wouldn't know where to look for it.
im sure someone will be along shortly to guide you through it |
Managed to fix this specific issue by downloading a trial version of 3DS Max.....
Exported the .OBJ using S3D Imported the .obj into 3DS Max Used one of the guides on here for creating ambient occlusion maps (turned out to be a red herring) ... Used Skwasjer's tutorial for exporting additional uvw meshes .... and imported back into S3D and when I imported it warned me that the object had vertex normals and the original didn't have them ... I said YEs to the dialogue box and when I tested, the light and dark sides were correct dependent on where the sun was ... so it was missing vertex normal which caused the issue, I think. I now have another texture issue I'm going to start a new post about... |
