Crossing the Atlantic - opportunities for refuelling!
Playing with SH3+GWX, I am on my third patrol in late 1939 and plan to patrol off Halifax. If I put into a neutral port (I was thinking of Reykjavik) is it possible to refuel without being interned for the duration. I know that in RL, German boats did call in at neutral ports including Reykjavik - at least one even visited the USA.
Are there any other refuelling opportunities in the Atlantic? |
There are the supply ships dotted around the atlantic. Theres one of Greenland, in the port of cadiz. I don't remember where the rest are. They are the ships coloured in blue that dont move and look like bases. Although it depends when in the war you are as to if these are available.

While your ingame press F1 and look for resupply info. It will tell you where and when resupply ships and subs are available.

ahhh forgot the F1 button :har:

So can anyone answer the other part of my question? What happens if I tie up in a neutral port - is there a risk of internment, can I get fuel? |
To be honest i never tried it. have a look at this thread. Should explain it a bit more:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=117783 As far as i know, you can only refuel in a neutral port if there is a supply vessel there. |

I didn't get interned. I didn't get fuel either. At least the pubs were good. |
