Thank you to all the experienced U-Boot Kameraden who have taken the time to welcome me and answer my questions.

I am trying to play the game on a Dell Laptop with Windows XP installed because it seems to be the most practical platform to use on my boat (I live afloat) - clearly there are drawbacks with the graphics card but I can probably put up with that - so may I please invite answers to the following questions:

I bought the game on an original 2005 DVD, if I buy and download the game directly from the Ubisoft UK store, will the downloaded version be the latest version without the problematical 'Starforce' security feature?

Playing with GWX installed, and having returned from my 4th patrol where I sank three enemy merchant ships with gunfire, five more and a destroyer escort with torpedoes for over 30,000 tons, my crew are awarded medals galore but my own 'Renown' is significantly reduced from the initial 1500 down to around 600 - why might this be? I did lose one ordinary seaman and had several injured during the fight with the destroyer - the injured crew appear to have fully recovered during the journey home but I left the dead seaman in the aft torpedo room.

I'm not sure about the download from the Ubisoft UK store but, I bought a copy of SH2 & SH3 together from Amazon for about $10 US, and the SH3 disk is already patched to 1.4b and StarForce free. You can also download SH3 from Amazon and it is patched and StarForce free as well.

The only thoughts that come to mind are possibly neutral/neutrals sunk=negative renoun. Upgrades to your boat cost renoun. Its been along time since I lost a crew member,(when I lose them it is usually the whole crew and boat as well.:oops:), so I can't say if that costs you renoun or not.

Click on the Amazon link top right of this page and select UK shopping then type 'Silent Hunter 3' in the search field.
