Looking For A Very Old Sound Mod
A Google search led me to the thread on this forum, but the links provided show that the files have been removed. The Mod was "Realistic Engine Sound Fx v0.9." This added a start up sequence to the diesel upon surfacing, based on a real Fairbanks Morse engine. I believe forum member Wilhelm Tell was the mod's author. The thread here on Subsim dates way back to 2007, and I had the mod at one time, but apparently didn't save it:/\\!!. If anyone has this sound file, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Sounds like a mod worth trying. Did a search of the downloads section just to see if I had any better luck but came up empty. Hopefully somebody else can help you out.

RealisticEngineSoundFX v0.9 by WilhelmTell be aware this is a v1.3 game mod so it is very old and could cause issues so look for any side affects |
Thanks a lot Webster! This was in the D/L section all along? Thought I looked high and low. I'll try ASAP. I can't see how changing around some sound files could mess things up, unless the file types used differed from 1.3 to 1.5. Thanks again for the find!

this is why I tell people to download every mod out there you can find and save it on disk somewhere. even if you don't want it or use it. it can also be useful later on when creating your own mods for learning how to make changes to some files. having a data base of all the mods also enables you to have them if you want to try them at a later date or share the mod with someone that might be trying to find it. mods get lost over time and modders come and go so things get lost forever if you don't think ahead and save them. |
Thanks again! Tried, and works with no apparent side effects. The only issue (the same one I originally encountered when I first used the mod) is in rough seas, when the sub first surfaces you may hear the start up sequence play more then once, as the sub trims out.

I believe WilhelmTell RealisticEngineSoundFX is used in TMO - see attached snippet from the credits of the TMO2.5 manual: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/data...AASUVORK5CYII= |
