I miss the ticking sound when rotating the Periscope

I have a little problem with a missing sound in SH3+GWX3. When bearing the Periscope there is no ticking sound. The sound file TDC_Bearing.wav is in the correct folder, but it won't play. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Cannot remember correctly, but I think this is assigned on the Sh3.sdl file in the data/sound folder.

:cool:

Thank you for your answer. Thats right, it is assigned there correctly. Any ideas why it does not work however?

Check the sound file itself.. maybe it's been edited with zero volume, or is there a volume setting in the sdl file ?

Leutnant_John 11-18-13 02:16 PM

The sound file is ok. Volume setting in the sdl file is correct.

We've got that in SH5. I can understand why you're missing it :(

vanjast 11-19-13 12:24 AM

Then I can only think that the file is not being used by GWX.. you'll probably have to dredge through the GWX mod files.

It is very strange. The file itself is used: When I lock a ship and change the station, then it ticks.

Edit: it ticks only in the torpedovorhaltrechner station

??????

Has anyone ideas in which files i could find the reason? How about the gauges.dat?

hi John,

look in your dials.cfg (located in data/menu/cfg/...)

in there ,search for the entries that you are interested to assign a sound.

for example ,the ticking sound for the bearing dial is the RED marked lines :

[Dialxx]
Name=Sol_Bearing
Type=24; DIAL_SOL_BEARING
Cmd=Set_TDC_bearing
Dial=0x3B0D00FF
CrtVal=0x3B0D0001
NewVal=0x0
DialVal=0,360
RealVal=0,360; degrees
Circular=Yes
CmdOnDrag=Yes
SndStep=5
SndList=1,Menu.TDC.Bearing,360

find the other entries that you are interested and assign the sounds to them (use as guide the existed sound lines in your dials.cfg)

Thanks makman, i have exactly the same values. Sounds are assigned correctly as well. Any other ideas, why they are muted in the periscope??

John,

send me your whole dials.cfg (upload it somewhere and give me the link)

ps: the entry that you see is for the bearing dial at TDC page.
there are other entries for the bearing dial at ,for example, attack scope and there is that you must put your hand
