National Museum of the USAF

Just found this, thought I'd share it.

Not sure how it compares to the Buna Aeroplane collection.:D

Fantastic link Jason!

Nice one Jason.

Pretty cool, McBee!

I was at the museum in '96 and took quite a few pictures. I've never scanned them in, but now I don't really need to. That whole interactive thing is very nice, especially the links to the descriptions of each plane.

Thanks for sharing that. :sunny:

Coolio :sunny:

That website is almost good enough that I do not have to go there. Certainly lets visitors know what they can see and just how well laid out the museum is. However, it cannot replace the experience of a real visit.

On the other hand, these virtual museum products can give people who can't attend in person a worthwhile experience.

I think we will (and should) see more of these types of virtual museum products being made.

I want to go there....really bad.

This won't work right now on my home internet....but I'll sneak a peek on Monday in the computer lab. :arrgh!:

Found a pretty cool 360-degree tour of the inside of the previous Air Force One on the site.

I have been there. My advice is that if you are ever lucky enough to get a chance to go there, budget at least two days!

Sounds like a good plan.

Noted! :salute: :yeah:

I'd probably spend two days...I can see myself doing that.

I was there back in... '04 ish. Wife had a conference in Dayton and she said it'd be ok if I stayed home for the weekend... I was like... Hellz no!

Aside from the very crappy IMAX movie they have there, it was a great trip! Most memorable part was seeing a Patriot battery every 1/4 mile or so deployed around Wright-Pat.

As to the movie, I think it was called Fighter Pilot, they used a lot of CGI and fake explosions. WTF Air Force, USE REAL BOMBS! There's enough training runs every day that you could use real munitions and such for a couple days to film it!
