A former submariner returns to simulations
Just downloading SH5 as I type this introduction.
This is my first submarine simulator since I played Silent Service by Microprose on my Commodore 64 during the mid-80s. That game came on 5.25 floppy disks. I seem to recall that it was impossible to save the game as I played. I expect to see improvements in graphics and gameplay although I do have fond memories of taking out Japanese shipping in the Straits off Sumatra. Good times. As I get familiar with SH5 I hope to try out some of the mods I have read about. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to meet some of you at sea online. Be careful out there, T.J. Kong |
Welcome to Subsim! :subsim:
Silent Service on the Commodore 64 was my first experience with a sub simulation too. I think you'll find a slight improvement in graphics and gameplay. By the way, you can return to the Straits off Sumatra in SH4 and go down memory lane. Happy hunting! :lurk: |
