h.sie hardcode fixes - virus alert
I use AVG antivirus and when I try to patch the SH3 .exe file I get a virus warning for some thing called Luhe.MaZec.L. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem. If so, is it safe to ignore and proceed anyway?
|
I wouldn't take that too seriously.
Here's what H.sie himself has to say about it: http://www.marinesims.de/wbb2/thread.php?postid=273239 (in German, but perhaps Google translate will help if need be) |
Yes, thanks Sublynx interesting comments. I am sure it is safe to proceed. I may try another antivirus programme to stop the annoying alert message each time I log on.

ESET 5 and ESET 4 , do not show any message.

One of the "wunderbar" drawbacks of AV-ware "false positives" :nope:

Well, from the virus/malware scanner point of view it is a legitimate warning. The H.Sie program patches an executable file. We may intend to do this, but the virus/malware-scanners don't know that. So, try to add the location of the H.Sie patcher and similar tools in the scanner's exclusion/safe-list.

I tried disabling it, ran the game, then it quarantined my executable while I was playing. Now I can't find it in the vault and have to do a re-install. Quote:

Thanks, Steve |
should be in settings somewhere under white list or exceptions.

Have you tried using Game Booster to shut down AVG? |
You should have an AVG icon in the bottom-right hand corner of your screen. Right click that and select Open AVG.
In the top-right corner you will find a tab marked options. Click that tab and go down to advanced settings. On advanced settings you will see a list of choices on the left. Directly under update you will find Exceptions. Click that. Towards the middle bottom you will find four buttons: Add exception, Edit, Remove, and Remove all. Click add exception. Select Exception Type: Choose Application or File Tick the boxes: Even when file is moved to new location and Even when this file has been changed and updated. Then you must select the file(s) you wish to exclude. You can use the browse feature to locate the file(s). (Someone take over for me here. What exactly are we trying to exclude??) |

Anyway I did a complete re-install and I discovered how to white-list files in AVG under the advanced settings you can specify files to ignore. So I ignored the patched sh3.exe in all the places where it occurs and everything is fine now. |
