Upgraded to Win 7...
Now my saved game is gone? SHIII was on "D" drive and when I upgraded from Vista Home Basic (32bit) to Win & 64 bit (On "C" drive) I can start the game but my saved career is not available:huh: Can I salvage my saved career, or should I start a new one? I had a bit of tonnage and would hate to lose it. Thanks.

Your saved career info was saved in the SH3 folder in your "my Documents" file, which was on your C Drive. If you wiped the C drive before installing Win 7 on it, it is gone.

If there is a Win old (or somethhing like that) then it will be in there somewhere

Check your (My) Documents folder for a SH3 folder. That should have your campaign and commander profile files in it. As long as the game has the exact same mods applied (and in the exact same order), then you can reuse those files in your 'new' SH3 game installation. |
It was a complete new install of Win 7, I had saved a lot from the "C" drive to an external HD so maybe it is there. I will break out the external HD and see if I can find it. I'll get back to you.

I found the SHIII folder, now do I just put it in my documents?

That should do the trick.

Thanks guys, I'll do it and hopefully I can continue with my patrol. I'll report in later.

Good news! I got my old patrol back but noww I have a black border on both sides of the screen like I'm in windowed mode. I have checked in the options that I have full screen ticked, and it is. Is there a wide screen setting somewhere that I need to address?

Your graphics card drivers probably have a configuration panel where you can set this scaling. There is a widescreen mod for SH3, but it doesn't really change the fact that the game only expects a 1024x768 GUI. And I never really used it, so I'll shut up now. This mod (MAGUI) does provide a changed GUI layout specifically for widescreen ratios. But you need to use the apporpriate sub-mod for the exact resolution that you use: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=175278 |
