Adobe needed to update the damage report. They now say that 38 million accounts have been hacked, including user names and access codes.

Well, consumers get what they deserve. They tolerate these new business and distribution models and reward them by paying for them. So it is their own responsibility that they get spanked. These things would not survive on the market if consumers would boycott them.

I guess I'll stick with my tired copy of Photoshop 10 I bought retail back in 2000. From what I've seen of the bells and whistles added up to version CS 6 there is still no compelling reason to upgrade.

I'm still using Paint Shop Pro 9, from 2004. :haha:

I really don't trust "cloud" hosting of personal content. The various EULAs all seem to have some sort of "we can pull your content anytime we want for whatever reason with no liability/responsibility" clause in them which really is a defacto relinquishment of ny ownership to the "cloud" host. A bit ago, Disney pulled some of its films from iTunes circulation, including "already purchased" films; Disney says this is an error, but, somehow, I don't trust it will always be an "error" in the future:

Same here - maybe not from 2004, but it's surely a much "outdated" version and I've never found a reason to upgrade to anything else.

The only Adobe software I have is the free pdf reader. Oh, and I guess the Flash player plugin or whatever it is that wants to be updated occasionally? Is that theirs now? I did get an email from them about the security breach, I suppose I've given them my email address at some point over the years when downloading the reader. To my knowledge I've never had an "account" with them that amounted to anything and if I did it was so long ago that I've forgotten about it. I've certainly never bought anything online so I just chucked their email, I can't imagine what info they might have that I'd have to worry about. :hmm2:

But but but, the cloud will solve all our problems.

As long as Lightroom can be off the cloud, I will be happy.

I finally went in and made sure that part of thier junk was disabled!

this is such a joke, adobe was and has been hacked this whole time going back at least 2 months and they are just now figuring it out :/\\!!

it should have been obvious when the downloads stopped working in September lol. adobe reader took 20 minutes to download before I canceled it and the flash player went 45 minutes before I canceled it because my anti-virus stopped it from continuing when it found the virus.

hmm, maybe adobe should use my free antivirus for their website :hmmm:
