Is it possible to have SH4 run in background?

Hey all,

Basically, my setup is with 2 screens. I'm running SH4 on the larger one and doing work on the other. Every time I click out of SH4 on to the other screen, it will minimize and pause the game.

Is there anything out there that would let it run in real Windowed mode where it doesn't do this? I've been playing around with settings.

Regards!

There is a setting to run windowed.

It is under OPTIONS.GRAPHIC SETTINGS

Tried that too, the game minimizes to the task bar still when I click out of it...grrrr

how are you exiting? are you using the ms windows key on the keyboard or are you hitting the esc or alt+tab to get out?

I think it might stay actively running if you use the ms windows key

the game was kinda designed to stop so you don't sail into a task force or land so exiting the game should pause it so it doesn't kill you

I'm just clicking to the application I have running on the secondary screen. SH4 that I have running on the primary screen then goes down to taskbar.

I ran it windowed last night<first time> and it only paused on the first loading screen. During game play everything kept going while I did other things on the computer. You need to change on your graphic cards options somewhere since your running two monitors. You could have something set to minimize on certain conditions but SH will continue to run even if the cursor is not in it's window.

This is a graphic card and or windows multi monitor issue not a game one.

Awesome, will look into those settings. Thanks!

I have tried to place SH4 in background whilst doing something else by pressing Windows key (Win 8 Pro) and I get my desktop back up but the game does not like it, crashes.

In order to have SH4 still run in the background you have to have it in windowed mode and lower the game resolution below that of your monitor. I run it like this all the time with no problems.
