RAN Hosts International Fleet Review
Celebrating the centenary of the Royal Australian Navy fleet's 1913 entry into Sydney Harbour my home town is hosting a party this weekend: http://www.navy.gov.au/ifr/
As its a long weekend here, I plan to spend at least one day trying to get a look at some of the hardware on display. There will be displays and events most of the weekend so it should be as big as the 1986 75th anniversary and the 1988 Bicentennial reviews which I witnessed all those years ago. Taking the camera this time so will post a few shots of the more than 40 warships and16 tall ships taking part once the celebrations get under way and I get something worth showing. Unfortunately this time there are no carriers taking part and only the one Collins class sub so fans of this genre including me will be a little disappointed: http://www.navy.gov.au/ifr/participants/warships Anyway ahoy mateys I'll post more about it as things get cranking. No doubt the girlies will be as out in force as the pussers and the pubs will be heaving with drunken sailors each night.:arrgh!: |
Perhaps I'll see you there, and promptly forget you because I won't recognise you :wah:

Some cool shots in these galleries. I managed to slip out at lunch today to get to Darling Harbour where the tall ships are moored. I'll post some pics when I get home and get them off the camera. |

Cheers mate. Heading into the city today to catch the air display and ther the ceremonial fleet pass in review. Huge crowd is expected so I'm not planning on going on board any of the ships this time. But will see what I can see and will post more pics when I get back.
