Otto Sander (Kptl. Phillip Thomsen) passed away
 

Well, the thread title says it all. The German actor who acted as Phillip Thomsen in Das Boot has passed away today.
Rest in Peace Mr. Sander.:salute:

Had the honor to work with him about 3 years ago. His body had already been a little weakened by the cancer, but his mind was still brilliant as ever. A very down-to-earth man with a great sense of humor - not always compatible with people who easily blush. :oops::)

RIP sir, the interactions between him and Prochnow made the movie, he was utterly convincing as an actor.

I never seen any of his other work, but I recognize greatness when I see it.
