Ships in class

Hey all I very rarely post in the forums but I do lurk quite a bit. I bought Sh4 in 2007 in Kuwait on my way back from my 2nd deployment and have loved the game since then. I currently use TMO 2.5 and RSRDC along with some other smaller mods...

Anyways. my question is, if I sink a ship, will it remain sunk? In Oct. 1943 I just sunk a Kuma Light Cruiser. After I sunk her I went online to find out more about the Kuma class cruiser and found that there are 5 total Kuma class cruisers.

Does this mean that 4 Kuma Cruisers are left in various parts of the Pacific?

No. Any ship you sink can and will show up later in the game.
Sinking any ship will not remove it from the list of available ships, if that were the case you'd soon run out of targets or rather the IJN would.

No ships do not remain sunk. New ships are spawned when the convoy/task force starts out and then removed when it reaches its destination according to the games script. And ending the patrol and starting a new one resets everything. In one campaign I sank the two ISE class battleships a total of five times.

Thank you. It is a bit disappointing but I guess the limits of the game require that to happen

The IJN would replace some ships during the war and convert Battleships into Aircraft Carriers. Would be a nice feature to see in the game, along with a truely dynamic campaign that is not based on history.

Your question has already been answered.
TMO with RSRD should correct the problem of the same ship popping up again and again.

Well. I see how this boat is run. :rotfl2: When I sign on you post me to the watch 24/7, and then I have the bonus of getting to see others go straight to shore leave!

I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition... :hmph:

Sunk boats can be refloated, fixed and sail again. Probably not from the bottom of the Pacific though.

Not quite, the same ships pop up again and again after you sink them, but with RSRD, most don't show up after their historical sunk date.

The other issue is chasing damaged ships. Let's say you damage a Yamato, you need to sink it before it leaves your contact zone and the group despawns. You may gain contact with it again only to find it brand new. Still, for some reason this isn't always the case, just most the time

Going off of this, about how far can I travel away from a crippled ship (let's say she's dead in the water) before the game removes it from the world?
