Right...Jimbuna im working on it lol
The second patrol it wasn't bad 15000 GRT must of the ships larges merchants and some medium tanker. But the weather was very variable, and the last part of my patrol was heavy seas, strong winds, rain and poor visibility...

If you play GWX/SHCommander long enough anything can happen. Case in point Kaleun Robert Burzan takes the U-73 VIIIB out for his 1st Combat Patrol. He left from Konigsberg on 28-8-39 and made his first sighting of an enemy vessel on 8-9-39, a destroyer. Down to periscope depth and his sound man gets multiple, fast contacts moving from NE to SW at long range. Up goes the scope and there are the Hood, the Renown, 2 heavy cruisers and 6 destroyers moving at 17 knots. Too good to pass up. He set up a shot for about 5,000 meters. With 3 type I torps he can shoot, but the type II in tube four will have to wait. Fire tubes 1 - 3, loose!

Waiting, waiting, waiting and then three solid explosions:

Three hit on the HMS Hood and she grinds to a halt while her consorts veer sharply to avoid collisions.

The rest of the Task Force sped off and left the U-73 to leisurely put 2 more tops into her. Down she went.

That's right. 1st patrol, virtually the 1st sighting, 1st attack and sinks the HMS Hood for over 9,000 tons a torpedo. Not a bad start for a career.

Mein Herr Konteradmiral: a thought! My itchy neck has long envied your splendid avatar. I note that the Overlords of the Deep designation employs the Pour le Merite which was never issued in round two of the "German War of Expansion" begun by der Kaiser. And 'overlord' is sort of an allied thing at best... or so our intelligence intercepts suggest... I much prefer your avatar, der Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuz mit Brillenten with the title "Ritterkruizer of the Abyss" as the suitable highest support designation. Can we not present Herr Onkel with this? Myself, I'm content to remain an OBLT with the customary promotion to KorvettenCapitain when I'm sunk or no longer respond on enigma... :arrgh!:

I've collected a few more over the years but the one above is one of the better screenshots.
