I hadn't seen that. It's amazing how far up on the reef it got.

Nice make sure you take pictures:arrgh!:.I want to visit Cleveland just to see the Cod lol Since it's only one with intact pressure hull from what I understand. They never cut into it to make access easier.

My home is about 50 miles away from the USS Drum in Mobile, AL.I have been there many times, wanted to stop other day on my way back to Louisiana but did not have time.

Any of you visit U-505 yet?

c13Garrison 08-21-13 12:42 PM

I'm 30 miles away from it. I'm amazed it still smells like a sub. However, given its in the Museum of Science & Industry you really need a full day there, so much awesome stuff to ingest.

Not yet but its on the list when I go to Chicago in October

Admiral Halsey 08-21-13 02:34 PM

Every time I go to Chicago I make sure to visit the sub and no matter how many times I visit I always seem to picture myself on that fateful day when U-505 was captured.

I've seen it three times, but the first two were long ago when I was a kid, and not really able to fully appreciate it. The present exhibit, where it is indoors, is a significant improvement.
