Most embarrassing moment.

Like the title says post your most embarrassing moment in SH4. Mine would have to be when I accidentally sank the Iowa during the invasion of Okinawa.(It was night and the seas were rough. Plus it was around the time and area the Yamato would have been on it's final suicide mission so I though it was her.)

Euhmmm...

Forgeting to switch off General quarters, had to put the sub in rest mode for 96h before the crew responded to command inputs again :-?

Late Feb 1942 off Java, was trying to get around to witness the Battle of Sunda Strait, thought I found the Japanese force(it was dark, i dont use the auto id at night unless super close, plus i dove for attack) and scored four Mark 10 torpedo hits on a large cruiser, but once the flames shot up, there was old glory, clearly illuminated:/\\!! The tough old ship repaired and sailed on with a list, but 3 hours later when ran into japanese forced, was easy pickings.I sunk a light cruiser with torpedoes shortly after Houston's magazine detonated from ijn gunfire.

That would be multitasking: verboten der Uboot waffe where war is simple until the simple thing becomes difficult.:arrgh!:

Getting target fixated and ignoring the pinging - The angle of the searchlight beam ought to have been a clue [see photo] I'm assuming that embarrassingly stupid counts, for the purposes of this thread?

Forgetting to reload the torpedo tubes before going on a patrol and running into a small convoy with nothing to shoot at it.

Running aground more times than I can remember.

Plotting a course that happened to intersect with a small island, then running the boat aground at 2048x time compression. Boat wrecked, new campaign.

Slashing through a party of fishing boats close to shore and not realizing a shore battery had us dialed in. Very little gain vs the damage taken.

Forgetting to lower air search radar mast on clear, calm days while submerged and watching targets run like rabbits when they spot it...

c13Garrison 08-16-13 12:11 PM

Yeah, why can't that button stay lit when the mast is up, like for periscopes? :hmmm:

I normally don't even raise the radar mast as it seems to detect planes at maximum range even when it's lowered.

Setting up for an attack on a Japanese taskforce full of battleships. Not watching where I'm pressing on my keyboard and Smashing "Emergency Surface" instead of "Cycle Tubes" :/\\!!
