Cfg-Date Bug

Hello Guys i think many of you heard from the Cfg Date bug in GWX. That means that the ships in 1943-1945 have equipment from 1939. Did anyone ever fixed it?

RConch 07-15-13 07:37 AM

Could you explain in more detail?
There have been many posts about hedgehogs and squids being used.:hmmm:

SnipersHunter 07-15-13 08:46 AM

No they dont have hedgehogs but for example they must have in 1943. So a Destroyer in 1945 have equipment from 1939 .

RConch 07-15-13 09:16 AM

I don't know what might be wrong, a corrupt file perhaps.
I am in March 1942 and escorts and aircraft all have radar which was not available earlier in the simulation.
Sorry I can't help, but others might be able to.:salute:

Ok but thx for the answer

is it all the ships or just a few? just trying to understand the problem.

This 'bug' has been discussed here:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...139231&page=23 (post #341 and following posts)

and here (in German):

http://forums-de.ubi.com/showthread....Preview/page3?

The final result was/is:

- a Black Swan with CfgDate=19380101 in the Campaign_SCR.mis will have radar and hedgehog in 1944

- a generic Black Swan with CfgDate=19380101 in the Campaign_RND.mis will have radar and hedgehog in 1944

- a Black Swan with CfgDate=19380101 in the Campaign_RND.mis will NOT have radar and hedgehog

Since most destroyers (if not all) in the GWX Campaign_RND.mis are generic entries, there is hardly any problem (if at all).

So it cant get fixed?

LGN1 07-15-13 03:31 PM

It can be fixed easily, however, I doubt that it's worth the effort. For instance, I just checked for the Black Swan: There are only four entries that are affected (among the few thousand ships). If you meet this group of four ships in 1943, just be happy and imagine their radar is out-of-order :D

Edit: I doubt that any player would ever realize whether he plays with a fixed or not-fixed version.

SnipersHunter 07-15-13 03:42 PM

I think anyone should upload a fixed version. Is your version fixed?

LGN1 07-16-13 01:13 PM

Hi SnipersHunter,

I'm sorry but my version is not fixed. As I've said before, I doubt anyone would realize the difference.

It might also be that it was intended by the GWX team :hmmm:

No, it isn't crazy at all. If it was a game - stopping problem, things would be different. However, as LGN1 has told you, four entries out of thousands do not warrant a great deal of attention.

LGN1 has done a great deal for this community and he is a good guy. You might keep that in mind when you post. Calling his answer 'crazy' is not really very cool.:03:
