Cruiser magazine explodes after capsizing(screenshots)

TMO RSRD USS Trepang(Balao) manual targeting, cams and contacts on.

July 4, 1944, Bashi Channel. After sinking the Taiho at Battle of Philippine Sea, nailing a German U-Boat off Formosa on July 2nd and taking down 3 troopships in Bashi Channel in late June, was down to three Mark 14's in forward tubes, waiting for next target so could head home.

Radar made contact on fast moving vessels, two large pips with two escorts.Raced ahead, dove and closed in.Comign to scope depth, we have two Takao Class Heavy Cruisers moving at almost 18 knots. Was hoping to fire from 1200 yards but due to their high speed and slight course change, it put us out firing from 2000 yards, fired all three set at 15 feet, one to hit amidships, one under forward turret, one under aft turret.Fired them when target was about 70* AOB off port side, so fish would have time to meet, increasing chances of hit on high speed target.Raised scope and soon after...hit one, hit two, hit three. The cruiser slowed and was burning, taking a list fairly quick.Forced to go deep as two Asashio DD's roared in.While my Balao(USS Trepang) was at 600 feet slipping away.I used the cam to see if my target was sinking, she was dead in water, burning but not sinking yet and soon, one prop was moving her along, I was pinned down at 600 feet evading depth charges when the fire grew larger(love the fire damage mod darkwraith:salute:) about 10 minutes later her list was more serious and soon, she capsized, belly up. After about three minutes, a massive explosion occurred, second biggest one I have ever seen in the game(after a conte verde liner with internal cargo as ammo) ..guess fire reached her magazine(or however that is simulated) , anyways, it was extremely loud and the visual was nice, figured I would share.

Very nice... :hmmm:

The biggest explosion I've seen is where a merchant exploded as I surfaced underneath it.

Was that when you were in the Kamakaze Navy? :)

Nice. The pictures do not do it justice.I am going to have to record a patrol and post it as a video sometime. The explosion was just "grand", the sound, EAXsoundsim mod really came out in that one. Definitely was a "simulated" magazine explosion.I sank another cruiser with an S boat on 8 December 41(off Malaya, using pre pearl harbor mod was on patrol when war started, encountered 3 heavy cruisers and two DD's, the khoto baru (sp?) covering force. Four Mark 10's spread along the cruiser's length much like the attack described in this threat.Four hits, cruiser capsized, then sank, shortly after it sank, huge underwater explosion, no massive fireball above water as it had sunk but watching it with external cam, explosions were coming from areas where forward and rear magazines would be located.
