I thought i would create this thread in the hope that some of us, who have an interest could collate interesting stories that made the news, of days, or preferrably years or centuries gone by.

The purpose of this thread is three-fold and shall include:
1) the collation of memorable (in the posters' opinion) news pieces of a moment in history which was reported via print media or any other media format, for that matter.
2) The news piece NOT to be a 'commonly reported' or 'event of the decade or century'. Examples of what NOT to post here would be the invention of the steam engine, or the invention of the telephone. Nor the first step on the moon, or the events of famous battles etc.
They should be news pieces that the poster found interesting, relevant to that particular time that the news piece was first published and that other form members of Subsim either didn't know about or would possibly also find interesting.
3) If at all possible, the Poster should assure that their posted material has NOT been posted here at Subsim in the past.
(Let's keep the news posts clean, and devoid of conspiracy nonsense and other childishness shall we?)

Posts could include but certainly not limited to: the posters' hometown loacl news report from yesteryear, for example, would be interesting to hear, amongst other articles, a posters' local area and what made news...


What you define as interesting may not be interesting to someone else so how do you define interesting? How do you know if the news article that you found from yesteryear is worthy of this thread?

Well, to give you a bit of an idea, i thought i would start off by posting some noteworthy and what i found interesting news articles from the past.

Take note: the following posted links are certainly not great discoveries made by man, or man's first step on the moon, nor are they from the 1700's.
