No crew on German ships

I've noticed on some of the German surface raiders, the KMS Hipper and the P-cruiser, the crew section is empty and not enough crew to stock it with.

I run these ship mods standalone. Are they meant to be run with the Opmun mods or is there a crew mod to be used with them.

Thanks.

Every time I have seen a ship with NO crew at all it is usually the "ranks". I am assuming these are playable ships? To make a ship playable the game needs to think it is a submarine, so it depends on what files were used to build it.

In the MOD If you look in the <modname>/Data/Submarines/KMS Hipper folder and open the KMS Hipper.upcge

Now find the CrewmemberSlots section and you will see something like this:

[UserPlayerUnit 1.Compartment 5.CrewMemberSlot 1]
ID=CrewMemberSlot_BowTorpW1L
NameDisplayable= Bow Torpedo 1st Watch Leader
Type= Leader
WatchIndex= 1
IDLinkCrewMember= Crew-Jr-NCO-Rank-1-Torpedo

The IDLinkCrewMember is the line you are concerned with.

Now open the modname/Data/UPCDataGe/UPCCrewData/Ranks.upc Open the file with notepad and see if the rank actually exists. You will see this:

[Rank 4]
ID=Jr-NCO-Rank-1
Level=4
TreeType= Kriegsmarine

If the ranks.upc is not in the folder then they were using either the stock ranks or the ranks from a certain campaign mod it was meant to be used with. You can check with the author if possible OR if you want to use the ship with stock campaign, go through all the crewmemberslots and in the IDLinkCrewMember= place a rank that actually exists.

You can also check the UPCData instead of the UPCGE in case they used those files instead of the UPCDataGE, depends on what campaign they are being used in.

If the rank does not exist, that is why the crewmembers do not man the ship, since there have assigned a rank to a position on the ship but there are no crewmen with that rank so they will leave the position empty.

Hope that helps.

I believe those are my ships, and as such are made for Operation Monsoon.
