[Needed] floating Mine with asdic

[Needed] Floating Mine with asdic . What i would like is a floating mine with asdic so that they could be placed and preferably drift . To be used instead of indicator loops in enemy harbors . Any better ideas ?

Do you mean a mine with a Sonar on it? Could you give me a link to it? It sounds very interesting.

I also did not know there were indicator loops.

I guess I have missed quite a lot then.

Another idea (Not shooting yours down, because you do have a great idea)

There could be dedicated watches around harbors or coastal guns.
Coastal guns have a model, but I have never seen them used.

Interesting stuff, but what about the mine with the Asdic on it?

I dont care what it is , i just need something you can place with the mission editor that can detect your sub and alert other ships .

That makes perfect sense and would help in making custom missions.

Good idea. I would use a dummy unit, stripped down as much as possible. Equipping it with ASDIC would have the side effect that we would hear its ping. A mix of visual and hydrophone sensors is probably more appropriate, though it would allow us to sneak into enemy ports at silent speed and/or at night.
We can give those sensors appropriate range and sensitivity so that 1-2 indicator loop units would cover an entire port, without need to make them drifting :hmm2:

Good idea! But more than a dummy unit, I would tweak a little an existing buoy to make it submerged...with all needed sensors...:)

a buoy or a mine are all a good starting base for creating the "dummy unit" that I was mentioning before. Submerged or not, it will make little difference, as it is going to be invisible and not detectable by any U-boat sensor :salute:

Coastal units are the way to do this. Trying to make a dummy unit with no kind of UnitCommander controller will do nothing as it will be unable to spot anything or use any sensors. If you place a UnitCommander type controller on it then it will be able to use sensors but your crew will also be able to spot it (it will show up on maps either as sonar contact or visual contact) thus defeating the purpose.

You think it will work?
We able to move on surface in Scapa and all the DDs can see us but.. they are docked and we can do with them whatever we want.. alert does nothing..

I thought I fixed that in latest version of IRAI :hmmm:

As I said in IRAI thread, for some weird reason only docked battleships able to fire at the subs.. DDs don't..

Only the BBs are docked - the DDs are active.
Perhaps because they are part of the Oak Group, with the Oak as group leader (docked) that they do not act:hmmm:

Agree on the unitcommander stuff, as for them being spotted by our crew, I don't think it would happen if we make them submerged and stationary. Moreover, if I remember correctly while I was working on the whale for OH, watchcrew was unable to spot them until I added a collisionable object controller to their zon file :hmmm:
