Aircraft bug?
I seem to remember that there's a bug in which Allied aircraft won't appear if the game is above a certain time compression level. Can anyone clarify this for me?

1. not see any aircrafts or other enemy units at all 2. run into an enemy unit or aircraft with no time to react at all. This scenario ends with a death screen most of the times. |
since release date, i have never encountered this bug once.
I routinely play at 512 compression, and i have never suffered an "instant death" by airpla es nor have i ever noticed airplanes or other ships not being spotted. My watch crew spot them all the time at 512 TC it could depend on what mods etc:hmm2: |
I would suggest to use max TC set to: 256.
Golden middle where you will be capable to react to any events around you. |

Imagine TCx512 Aircraft trevel pattern: ___ ____ _____ The larger TC the larger gaps. If you run TC x1024 or more it's a real chance that your crew will spot the aircraft just above your head. |
This is an issue when using sh3 commander. Part of the options are that you can set your crew default reaction time when they spot aircraft (and ships). I set aircraft sightings to real time.
Around land my tc is set lower because my rig struggles to process things quickly but on the open sea I regularly use 1024 or even faster with no problems. It's not often I encounter aircraft but when I do my tc intantly reverts to real time. |

In my experience the problem is not seeing the aircraft too late but that the aircraft usually misses you.I have experienced this in 1024 compression and I rarely was attacked by aircraft in 43 then some of the people around here enlightened me where the problem was.

Hmmm if this is a real bug that would be a show stopper for me. Was thinking about buying this game again and reinstalling it, I would probably pass if this bug is true. I know there was another bug that ruined it for me was the friendly fire ship bug, where there would be a shoot out going on above the waves problem was that it was friendly ships firing and sinking each other. that was a real turd for me. I can not remember if it was SH2 or SH3 and was fixed or not. Anyone know for sure about this 2 bugs? Thanks for anymore info.

If an Allied ship (lets call it British) is firing at you and accidentally hits a British merchant then Britain becomes the enemy of Britain and they'll fight each other until there's only one ship left floating. Unless you're fighting surfaced inside a convoy then there's little chance of it happening, so yes the bug does exist but it's a very rare occurrence. |
Protracted testing over recent years suggests x128 is the maximum tc before rendering difficulties occur.

Thank You Wreford-Brown for the great explanation for whats going on to cause this problem. Surprised the programmers felt it was necessary to put this type of gamey reaction in this real life like Sim. Interesting. Well I bought the game again time to read up on all the late and greatest mods and see if the Sim feels right to be a keeper! Thanks for reply! Lonny

This is NOT a bug! It is a necessary limitation of TC due to limited computer power. |
Every time I try to pass near the islands of England, even when I use a TC of 128, planes keep appearing. It's a bit frustrating if we talk about starting a campaign in 1939, is necessary to navigate submerged during the day. And if the skies are cloudy usually appear in the middle and short range. The consequences: several damage to different compartments and many wounded.
Using the NYGM, someone has the same problem? :Kaleun_Binocular: |
I don't see this as a problem. I can't imagine that you could lull around the Island for any length of time and not be detected.
