Mods and Windows 8

Does anyone have problems to activate mods in Windows 8? I have read some where that does not work at all. Are there any tricks?

Thank y:hmmm:u.

Thank you, Bathrone.

It would also help me if some would write more, that it works, then I could write the one that it is not on Windows 8 and he still has a chance to find the error. I for myself have not Windows 8 installed currently on any computer that would be capable to start SH5, so I can not check it myself. Thank you and a few other estimates I would be happy.

Best regards.

PS @Bathrone: Are you logged in your Windows 8 as standard user or administrator, UAC on or off? Thank you.

Running as a standard user is just good security like in Unix :)

If you do something within windows 8 requiring privilege escalation, uac will kick in by default for the escalation unless someone has changed the default group policy settings to not allow it

Windows 8 supports directx 9 just fine

I'm a standard user on all my Windows 7 systems and have absolutely no problems to activate mods. But I read it a few times, so that other players have problems in Windows 8 and I do not know why. Therefore I have opened the topic. Thank you for your answers.

Regards.

Windows 8 bumped the windows driver model to a new version but its all backwards compatible. Theres nothing in an important architectural way thats significant between windows 7 and windows 8 when it comes to the core kernel system, the driver model, support for Directx 9 etc etc

Theres core os enhancements in windows 8 which are nice but nothing in the way breaking API changes and the like

Most people dont understand operating systems in detail they just "see" the presentation layer and dont understand the system within it
