Getting Ready For My First Time With SHIII...
 
Hey all,

I'm preparing for my maiden voyage with Silent Hunter III and I wanted your advice. I've currently got the game installed, GWX 3.0 installed to the Steam Directory of the game and SH3 Commander also installed to the Steam Directory of the game.

I'd like to know first, if that was the right way to install them, and second what other modifications are out there in the Silent Hunter III universe that would deepen the immersion and experience of the game that will also be compatible with the two listed above?

Hi and welcome,
I recently returned to SH3 again but my previous playing was with just the stock version, so this time I have added GWX and Commander. I cant advise on the correct directory for the steam version as mine was a late disc version, but the mods I have running with my young type IIA career are a selection of the gwx included options along with
Radio Deutschland/England
Thomsons Sound Pack 3.2
Lifeboat and debris 4
Lord Haw Haw British invasion looms (although Im not sure if this is working)
IIa tune up.
I tried Flakmonkeys type II interiors 2 & 3 but could not seem to get them to work
And ofcourse Jsgme (mod enabler)

Edit, in the time it took me to post Ninja has posted a far more impressive list of mods that Im definately going to try some of.

Yes don't forget JSGME for enabling mods.

you will need MaGUI fix for GWX if you plan on using that GUI. As for creating a stable soup check the readmes in case there are special instructions and compatibility issues with other mods

You'll also need the GWX3_SH3Commander config file.

You don't need the Fix French mod unless your chosen language is French.

Does the MaGUI fix also take into account the Widescreen? I figured the Widescreen Fix would take care of that for me.

I do have the GWX3_SH3Commander files installed as an exe surprisingly enough.

no because the GWX fix changes some files that make it work with GWX such as basic.CFG trust me if the readme or documentation says it do it ;)
