Can't edit ship's journal
 

The description of TDW's new UI mod led me to believe that I would be able to edit the hull number of my u-boat. Well, I've tried everything, but the hull number is still U021.

So, because of TDW's hopefullness that type IIB u-boats will sometime be playable, I'm stuck with an incorrect hull number, and the journal also says that my name is TheDarkWraith.

In short I'm very very annoyed.


And possibly very thick.

Have you try with the application OptionsFileEditorViewer (data\Applications\OptionsFileEditorViewer) ?

Make changes via fileviewer when mod deactivated.
It works good for the hull number...made it more than once!
(as well as for captain name)

I'm trying now, buti can't find any of the f-ing files I want!

I finally found the file I wanted.

But it's no help at all! I can't edit anything with the Options File EDITOR! Why call it that if you can't edit! All it tells me to do is to change it to the same incorrect number in the stock radio messages part, and that the name of my captain in the mod part is always going to be TheDarkWraith! WHY?! Why say something that's a complete lie, and just causes confusion! Is my u-boat U-34 or U021?! Is my name Werner Schmidt or TheDarkWraith!? This is just really annoying!

Wait, I think I've got it figured out now, ignore the rage post...

Okay, I'm confused again, which file do I have to open with the OptionsFileViewer? :doh:

...Silent Hunter 5\data\Scripts\Menu\TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py

Then scroll across the tabs to the right until you get to the tab "Ships Journal".
