Massive explosion rocks Detroit refinery

According to RT-USA, there has been a heavy explosion at a refinery, a tanker should have exploded

Kind of ironic that it's the "Marathon" Detroit Refinery.

Yea indeed. Another thought that i had when reading it was

What a month for the Americans, thank god, there's only a few days left of April

Hopefully no one was injured or killed. But i fear that it is not the case

Bloody hell, just hasn't been Americas month has it? Hopefully the casualty rate will be low on this one. I don't think it's a tanker that's exploded rather that it is a tank container, but even they can go up with quite a bang. 6pm, hopefully most of the workers will be off site and the explosion took place before the EMS got there unlike Texas.

No that would be a coincidence. Nothing ironic about it.

I think the Russkie news is sensationalizing...:hmmm:

Quote:

No injuries were reported at the refinery from the blaze in a tank containing wastewater from the refining process, said Marathon spokesman Shane Pochard.
...
The blaze broke out about 6 p.m. EDT and was extinguished at about 8 p.m.
"As far as I know, the refinery is still operating normally," Pochard said.
Pochard and Welch said air monitoring in Melvindale showed the air in the community was within acceptable levels.

Ah yes, I see "Thus the majority of American Heritage Dictionary's usage panel found it unacceptable to use the word ironic to describe mere unfortunate coincidences"

Well that's put the mockers on that Alanis Morissette song.

It's looking like only one person injured...could have been a lot worse.
