re-evaluating SH5

Well, it seems that knowing a trick or two, and some modding, your own or a download. Appears to solve the issues after all. That is once you know were the data folder is.

Anyway I do give the game a thumbs up . For me it is rolling into November of 1939.

Likes...:yeah:

1) you can venture any part of the boat. I always thought it should have been this way in SH3.

2) the transpernt water. when in Salt water, you should be able to look down and see something in the water in about 10 meters anyway.

3) working ship enviroment. From Bow to Stern It is good to see movment instead of standing like statues. Even Was very cool to watch the torpedo crew re-load a tube.

4) The game could grow on you.

5) Crew interaction. The pointless talks and raised sprits is what is expected on a ship. Because your crew and you in a time like that is a close family. How ever the dialog is limited and should have been a bit more expanded

Diss-likes...

1) Unable to get other type Uboats. I miss my type 9 and home sick for it. So I am tired of useing the type 7. But it is what it is.

*Resolved by Volodya61, see post #4* -2) Custom setting for difficaulty is not part of the campaing choices and redundant as a MP option.

3) The XO needs to stop being a baby about being a called a pirate and show pride for returning the old days of the 1700's back to England. But he will give over it...

4) Docking, I miss being able to compleatly dock the boat myself, I never had a issue with this.

Hates...:/\\!!

*CONFERMED*+1) Need a internet connection and connected to Ubiplay as a -->MUST!! Not every place in the states has a possable Inet connection by Cable/DSL. Other places in the way out still use the modem because no other service is avaiable for some reason. I use to live in such a place for 4 years and was stuck with Half-life 2 the orenge box because of the modem connection made the install impossable.

You can change options only in the bunker.. not in the main menu screen.. once you started a new campaign and bunker was loaded press Esc and you will be able to change any difficulty settings ever you want :yep:, save the game and these settings will remain in your campaign.. if you are using OHII campaign mod then reload last save for correct campaign start.. that's all :)

In your saved games folder/Data/Cfg is a file GameSettings.cfg. You can change all difficulty settings there at any time.

volodya61 04-20-13 11:15 AM

Why do it manually and poking around in the files if you can do it in the game? :06:

Realism

This is WW2. Everything is manual. :har:

Ubi patched out the always-on internet requirement over a year ago. Once the game is installed and authenticated once, you can always go into the Uplay options and set it to "offline" mode. The game will still say that it is synchronizing save games, but this is moot in offline mode. You should have no problems.

Right...but when you go to do the campaing as in "START a NEW" Campaing for your first time, there is a lil tab at the bottom. Custom settings is not a choice listed. Just easy, meduim and so forth. I already scrolled the list, I am filmilure how the game works. There is no Custom choice on that. In SH3 I can get and use a custom settings but NOT in SH5.

So even though I have it set in the options menue custom it will be returned to what I am forced to select, which is easy mode. I do not want easy mod, and meduim mode is just easy mod with a few selections that I do not use anyway. See?

If the custom settings is for MP, well that is redundant by a long shot. What good would it be to play it only for MP?

And I know what I am doing here because if I get out of the game, my custom setting are reverted to to what the game is set at.

And now try to read my post carefully

I have the Disk version, and the autoupdater already updated the game.

So............

I enter the game......it gives me the option to log in off-line mode...
Game starts up....tells me about a synic save game with server failuer...
I start a game anyway....it tells me a synic with server failuer and aborts ANYWAY :/\\!!....

I have Elder Scroll V: SkyRim. Even though I hate STEAM, I can play that game on-line, or log in off-line mode, and play it ANYWAY :shifty:...

See?
