On February 9, 2013 the Hennessey Venom GT ran 265.7 mph on the 2.9 mile long runway at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. This makes the Venom GT the fastest hypercar that you can buy.

If you want some specs on this vehicle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hennessey_Venom_GT

Oh, and if you wanna buy one, prices start at $600,000 US...start saving, kids.

Total awesomeness

Mh, not impressed...

So wait is this just a heavily modified Lotus with a different badge? I'd still prefer this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ariel_Atom. The newest Atom, the Ariel Atom 3 is only $56,480 USD

Not impressed? Why, good sir?

Mork_417 04-11-13 01:22 AM

It's purdy. :yep:

ajrimmer42 04-11-13 02:35 AM

It nice and all but when you've seen top-fuel dragsters do the scary side of 330mph down the quarter mile, it's a bit bit meh lol.

Waste of money...

For those with money to waste.

We have no autobahn here in the states so you'd never get this puppy out of third gear without risking jail time.:hmmm:

I'd prefer a car that goes 0 to 60 in a few seconds, where you can lay a C note on the dash and offer it to your passenger... if they can grab it during acceleration.:03:

You would not even want to get near that speed on a public autobahn. All other vehicles would be that much slower than you and wouldn't expect a car coming from behind at that speed. A fatal crash would be next to unavoidable.

There is a certain point where putting more power in a car simply doesn't have any benefit anymore except for a felt penis enlargement. You can't use the power anywhere, hell, a 2 miles long straight wasn't enough to get it to it's top speed so you wouldn't even be able to fully utilise the power on a closed race track. So what's the point (except for the above mentioned change in male anatomy)?

I simply don't fall for fast cars. Speed alone never impressed me.

I'm of the same mind. But, hey, if I could own this car and a nice cruiser I will have the best of both worlds! :D

Nippelspanner 04-11-13 09:23 AM

Mh, the only thing I would do in case I would own that thing is to sell it instantly to the next best guy and buy me a fine horse.

Real men, ride horses! :)

Having stupidly reached an indicated 169 mph on an, err, autobahn on a bike* I can tell you that a slight bend felt like a hairpin - and that's twice as fast as most people drive. Add another ton on top and you're talking suicide/manslaughter on any highway in a car or on a bike. TT racers on the IOM can reach a little over 200 mph, and as far as I'm aware the fastest a car has gone on the public roads in Britian was a Jap guy trying to break 200 on a straight section of the A1 many years ago.

*Never again.

Just ridiculous, buy a nice car and do you own little touches to it, but don't waste that amount of money on something the car once did but you can't ever do. :nope:

What about the I-state in Montana? I heard there was no maximum speed limit.

It is probably very dangerous but if remember this car generates enormous amounts of dawn force due to its design and has lots of different gadgets to keep it stable and in grip.

Jimbuna 04-11-13 12:12 PM

Quite impressive but still no match for a high speed pursuit vehicle :nope:
