I spent a lot of hours watching the old Siskel & Ebert show, which might have been what first prompted me to really THINK about films in a conscious way instead of just watching them and either loving them, hating them, or saying "meh" for reasons I never tried to pinpoint or articulate. Still checked out his online reviews and blog occasionally and certainly the good humor and fortitude with which he faced his illness and all its complications were always an inspiration.

RIP, sir, you will be missed. And thank you.
