diagonal wake off port bow

Hi:
I have SH3 and GWX installed-I have a white diagonal line-looks like a torpedo wake that constantly runs off my port bow in the forward view. when I scroll to the stern it seems to follow and merges with the propeller wake.

It is quite annoying-I tried searching for a solution but can't seem to find any posts with the same problem. Does anyome have any ideas what is causing it?

Can you make a few screenshots? That could be helpful...

PULSEOX 04-04-13 11:15 AM

I'll try....never have done that before.

I've never seen that before.
:hmmm:

Are you running a strict GWX 3 install?
Or did you add Mods?

GoldenRivet 04-05-13 08:52 PM

yeah... congrats dude... thats a brand new one :hmmm:

I got that aswell (don't have sh3 installed just now) usually get it on bridge and in free view or looking at another ship. I have never been able to fix it, but still played through it.

Wooooow. This is some serious stuff.

Ok, four options for you.

1. Uninstall your mods one after another until you see which one is doing this.

2. Just reinstall SH3 completely, this may not be mod-related.

3. Try to find which file is corrupted and find an uncorrupted one from anyone else. This looks like it is a corrupted file with periscope/tower/torpedo wake bearing.

4. Keep it. You will be the only living person with a glitched diagonal wake on port bow in Silent Hunter 3 with GWX. Being THE ONLY ONE or THE CHOSEN ONE can be quite a feeling.

Anyway, these are just my personal suggestions. May be totally wrong. Do what you want.

Also, it may have something to do with graphic drivers, if it's glitching in and out only at certain angle. Have you updated your drivers recently? Try the latest driver. If that doesn't solve it, try getting a driver which is several months or years older. SH3 isn't really a brand new game anymore...

EDIT1 - Scratch number 4, you will not be the chosen one (sorry)

EDIT2 - jreid666 and PULSEOX, try consulting if you have the same/similar graphic card. That way you may scratch driver issues.

Is your install mod free? That is, only SH3 and GWX gold (without any included GWX mods)? Are you using SH3CMDR?

Jimbuna 04-06-13 05:30 PM

I'm thinking along the lines of the graphics card and/or the drivers.

PULSEOX 04-08-13 10:59 AM

Thanks for the hekp

I am using SH3 with SH3 commander and several mods-most of the mods are sound (gramophone files) I also have the "flat sun fix" because I had an issue with the sun having a square box around it-which it fixed. The other mod is the one with the merchant ship addons.

I have a Gateway laptop NV78 with an integrated video chip (yuck), but it runs the game flawlessly other than this wake glitch.

I'll try taking the mods off one by one and see if I can find the culprit.
Do you think I should do that with SH3 Commander still installed or should I take that off first?

Guessing youre using an intel gfx card, i had the same problem on my old laptop, there was never any fix, i did a rough and ready fix by just removing the reflections from the ocean surface, not sure if its still hosted anywhere though.

@ flakmonkey

Plissken 04 still has the file on his FTP server.

I've upped it to my mediafire site also.

This is an intel driver issue. The only true fix is to get a dedicated graphics card (perhaps Nvidia or AMD?).
