Weather change.
I was wondering if it would be possible to make a mod that really simulates the real nasty weather encountered at sea. In my opinion and from what I've read there were times when it wasn't practical to remain surfaced do to the sea state. Waves so high that the submarine was buried by water almost all the time. It woudl be cool to have a simulation of this where the wind is in excess of say, 25 m/s and the waves huge. Just throwing that out there for some comments.

If your using SH3 Commander you can set wave heights to x2 or seasonal.

That is true but.

Wouldn't happen in reality, as the captain would normaly take the boat down to a depth that gave more comfort to the crew.
A worn out & battered crew would not give their best, so the cap't would try to keep his crew fit for when action needed every ounce of energy they had. :salute: |

But in response to the OP, yes it can be done as Jim said, and there are actually some ships in the game that take damage in heavy weather or even sink. So it can be done. |

As Jim suggested, start by using SH3 commander to increase wave size ... see if that causes damage to your boat already.

I think your all on to something here. Damaged caused by waves.
What exact units sink with high waves alone? |

I am not sure becouse I have never payed attention to which ships sank becouse of waves. I do know that some do occasionally to include escorts and merchants. I will pay closer attention next time. I always play with the wave height unchecked in SH3 Cmdr so I dont think it matters. I know that I have never had any damage from storms on my boat. |
Tramp steamers mostly. You will find them trailing the convoys they are part of, and starting to go down by the bow.
:subsim: Edit: The escort would be the Flower corvette. It usually sinks less often than the Tramp Steamer though. It has to be a really bad storm for them to sink. |
