[?] Physical Command Station for your desk.
So I made a post about making an actual physical torpedo launch control, but now my mind is moving on to analoging the whole boat.
I did have a question about copyright though, the torpedo launch control you see when in periscope, is that created by Ubisoft as a mock up launch interface or an actual copy of a WW2 sub launch system in real life? http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a87...ps0bb80ea0.jpg If it came to it could make our own version of a launch control I guess. Is this something others would be interested in? |
I would suggest you check TDW UI & CSP UI's.
Also, it seems that the screenshot you are making is screenshot from SH4, american boat - not exactly applicable to SH5 |
TDW & CSP User interfaces?
Sorry, what does TDW and CSP stand for? The picture is just an example, this could work for any Silent Hunter game including 5. |

Check this thread, as what you are asking for has been done already. |
I can't see a link for the thread you're speaking of, there's no hyperlink eithre that I can click on the words.

Ah nice, those look like they could would work well with the unit, appreciate it.

Wow, that's a really interesting idea! Are you planning to make something like a button box for flight sims?
|
That's exactly right.
It's myself and a friend doing the project. Have done a couple of things before, one actually very similar to this, a 16 button arcade joystick with arcade machine parts that basically looked like this only 16 button- http://images.futime.com/productimag...FT66B1-big.jpg Also done a portable PC fitted into a flight case, that would be great for LAN parties. |

That is a sweet idea. Could one be ordered and how much would the cost be?
|
Hot fun
Your idea is brilliant! I would also suggest a helm/dive control box. Course/compass control box. If you are ambitious, a torpedo data control box. With those three, wow.
Lots of work and cost though. I'd be a customer. |

It's all about making things work with either- Keyboard commands, which is really obvious and easy. Macros. Keyboard and mouse profiles, (like you get with gaming mice or joysticks) or maybe some light "on top" coding, that doesn't edit Silent Hunters. My colleague at work can code really well, so can look into it further if need. It actually isn't as hard as you might think (for a torpedo launch control at least, as pictured above) but there are pebbles to try and crack, yes, like a TDC or Compass control, I haven't even thought about those yet. We'll see. Quote:
For now i'm speaking as a Silent Hunter player, documenting a personal project of things that we want to use our self in game, but I have an email should you want to PM me for it, with any questions you have outside of the forum. :88) That goes for Subsim admins too! :hmm2: But for now, lets see if I can get this into fruition first, and see how it works out. But cost wise to actually create the torpedo launch box at least, will be very small i'd imagine. P.S - I typed all that out on this- http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a87...ps8e186cfb.jpg My friend made it for me to use at work with old PC and arcade machine parts, as i can't afford a laptop. |
So been trying to find parts, and so far had some luck.
http://www.spiratronics.com/images/backup/DSC02411.jpg Not exactly what we're looking for but getting closer. Found some green LED button lights too, but that's the easy part. If anyone has any suggestions for a housing that more fits the look then suggest away. Currently just trying to copy that design as pictured in the first post. -edit- Re: the first picture aka SH4 torpedo launcher, I was looking around the forum and saw someone had posted an interior shot of a sub, and it had a launch control that this must have been based off, believe it was a Balao class. Does anyone know where that thread is? |
