Looking for a mod

Hello all! I've got a copy of SH4: WOTP in my room, and I'd like to have another crack at it. But I'm wondering which mods I should use. I'm looking for a mod that improves the AI, but doesn't demand too much on my system (I'm using a laptop). A mod that improves the realism of traffic would be good as well. Thank you Pacific Pioneers! :salute:

Run Silent, Run Deep Campaign (RSRD, sometimes RSRDC) makes the traffic realistic. As for the AI, I've only used Trigger Maru Overhauled (TMO) but I have no complaints with it. I also play on a laptop, but it's an Alienware. However, I don't think TMO is much more demanding hardware wise than stock is. I didn't even bother to play stock though; I just started it to make sure it would run and then loaded TMO and RSRD. I've since added OTC (Optical Targeting Correction) to round out my soup.

RSRDC will remove the excess traffic in the game and having a lot less traffic will make it easier on the laptop

I run TMO and RSRDC on my laptop. Load times are good. Traffic is good.

You'll love it. :woot:

Thank you all! I'll reinstall SH4, install the mods, and start it up when I've finished my career in SH5 :woot:

Good! SH4 is pretty great with TMO and RSRDC installed. You'll like it. And in case Fleet Boats aren't your thing, there's Operation Monsun and We Dive At Dawn which change the game to German U-boats or British Boats.

Why not just use the U-boat missions add-on? :hmmm:

I think he means, get the v1.5 with U-boat missions and use the Operation Monsun and We Dive At Dawn mods. You will need the v1.5 to use the latest mods, but you still need the mods. Stock does not work to a high standard.

What does your laptop run for graphics?
I'm running FOTRS on an i5 w/ intel 3000 cranked up works good. Of course making sure the vents are clear is important, this game will heat 'er up.

the uboat expansion really isnt anything it pretends to be, you get one uboat with a poorly written campaign and in reality its just another game patch that fixes some things with the game and it "DOESNT CONTAIN ANY UBOAT MISSIONS" so you can only play a german campaign with it. but you WILL NEED to use UBM v1.5 patch so you can use mods because the mods are almost without exception made to run with v1.5 only.

Operation Monsun and We Dive At Dawn mods will give you the missing german campaigns and other boats as well as the missing ships and such so there are like a complete replacement of the game files but for the german side. this however is a huge drain on the system and you need a good computer just to run it and not to get constant CTD with them

NOTE - the mods being suggested are assuming your running UBM v1.5 game so keep this in mind, very few if any mods work with the old v1.4 game anymore

^^^^^^

Thanks! It all makes sense now. :salute:
