ST Radar.

Does anybody know how to get the observation scope to stop spinning becouse of the ST radar. I know that it was fixed in either RSRDC or TMO but I am running OTC along with those. For the life of me I cannot find any info on this specific problem even though I remember there being some stuff on it. I am pretty sure that I have to adjust the sensor.sim file for US subs but I am not sure what node it is or if there is any other files I need to address.

Thanks.

I guess nobody has a clue huh? I find that hard to believe.

You would do better if you ask under the mod that's in question.

The revolving view of the Observation Scope ST Radar can be fixed by opening the Optical Targeting Correction mod (take it out of "Activation" within JSGME), go through folders Data/Library/USSubParts/...open the "Sensors_sub_US.sim" file using S3D.

Drill down to the node: 34/35. Uncheck the Boolean "Value" for "Revolving =", setting it to False. Save the file.

You should note that the ST radar doesn't pick up a darn thing when the sub is submerged. All the effort to getting it operational..... putting it into the game, goes for nothing. The game doesn't recognize the ST scope as radar. To check for yourself, go to periscope depth. Pop up the Observation scope, then go to one of the Radar Station screens......they won't turn "on". Their deft as a post. It will work if you put the conning tower above water, but what's the advantage of that over the other radar antennas?!

The game doesn't recognize the Observation scope head as radar (even though it will spin like a top when using the view). The game has many things "hard coded" that aren't controllable by us (math formulas, stadimeter parameters, how or what gets saved when asked), the "switch" telling the game to recognize the Observation scope head as radar isn't set. The game has only one depth setting for radar use, that's with at least the conning tower raised above the water. Raising only the ST radar above water doesn't mean a thing.

Thanks for the help Capn Scurvy. I appreciate the help. I didnt put it under a particular thread becouse I wasnt sure what thread to use. I am running TMO w RSRDC w OTC.

Since it's an OTC problem, that thread would have been a good start. :D

I really wish the ST radar would work as intended, but as I said, the developers never implemented it fully in-game. Getting it to actually be in the Observation head was a challenge......finding out that the parameters were not set for getting it to work with the sub submerged and the head raised is the real stinker.

Good old Ubi the Boobisoft.

This is my first crack at a late war boat so I have never used it. I will do the fix as you instructed and go from there. And if it dont work than so be it. Do you play FOTRS by the way?

CapnScurvy 03-11-13 10:04 AM

No, I've never played FOTRS. Guess that's why I've not made an OTC mod compatible for it.
