Manual targeting
Can anybody tell me how to use manual targeting in stock SH5? I can't get TDW's new UIs, because my computer can't cope, so how do I get the solutions right? I tried to use it today, but the torpedoes just ran as if I was using the line-up-the-dots method.

You there guys? :hmmm:
|
You just do it the same:yep:
But all data is set into the xo command box Note:the stadi does not work with stock - so you will need to use map contacts on so you can draw distance.:arrgh!: Why not try DrJones UI:06: |

Have you turned on manual targeting?
You can do this when you press space on the target. enter all info (speed, bearing and range) fire:D Did you try DrJones UI:06: |

Let me give you an example. I came across a Cimmaron class tanker, put all the information in, fired my torpedoes, and all but two out of the 11 I fired missed! And the two that did hit were completely down to dumb luck! Quote:

He has TDWs UI on, but uses the xo box to input data. This is what you need to follow:up: |
Thanks!
:woot: I just got my first kill with manual targeting yesterday! |
maybe this is not the right room for this but i should give it a try...so here it is....i would like to control the deckgun in 5 just like the older games not just see manning the gun and auto fire to ships.....how can i do that? you know total control it with the mouse.....

Found out that most important data is speed, then AOB, then distance.
Firing at 90° from 1500m, if AOB and distance are correct but speed is 1 knot more or less of real boat's speed you can miss (depending of boat size)... At the inverse, if AOB is few degrees more or less, you can still hit...and distance, well sometime i don't even have time to input and torpedo hit still... Problem is to find right speed, you really need right distance and AOB! :D |

:haha: Didin't even know that!!
Navigator, are you sure? Thought it was the weapon officer :hmmm: EDIT: yes, found nothing under navigator. Weapon officer has the identifying icon (very useful in dark nights) the solution icon (this one seems to not take care of boat speed as the solution line goes right above the boat mouving! - i never use it) the fire torpedo icon (i never use) and some other i don't remind. But maybe it's because i don't have the assist change in the fileviewer? |

So it turns around you are right that navigator can assist in finding AOB...:
Attachment 203 I have it enabled by default, but when i clic my navigator icon, i can't find any optional icon for determining AOB  How do you proceed? |

- how fast your uboat is moving (dead stop is best) - how accurate you are with the stadimeter - time between subsequent range readings with stadimeter (longer is better) To get him to calculate AOB and speed: 1. lock onto the target 2. take a range reading with the stadimeter 3. wait x amount of time 4. take another range reading with the stadimeter 5. navigator starts calculating and after x amount of time he will tell you his calculations 6. repeat starting at 2 as desired. If you break lock then you have to start the whole thing again starting at 1 (lowering periscope below waterline will break lock) |
Ahhh...ok  So no icon to find and clic under navigator! It's automaticaly done when locked and ranged with stadimeter...
Always something new to learn :D |
