[REQ] Land Mass On Radar

I was wondering if it would be possible to mod land masses being picked up on radar? I'm presently reading a book about the story of "Flier", and the men who survived the ordeal. Just before they struck the mine, the book talked about the navigation through the Balabac Straite, and how different islands were being picked up on radar. Just thought it would be cool if possible to do.

That reminds me of O'Kane's book where he writes about hunting for enemy ships, using radar, with the scope cluttered with blurbs from rain squalls. It sure wasn't always cut and dried.

I'm guessing that this sort of thing isn't possible without re-engineering the game. Great idea, though.
