Unreal World RPG

Live the life of a primitive Dowly!
http://www.jmp.fi/~smaarane/urw.html

For those not in the know, the developer recently went (at least temporarily) to a donationware model like Dwarf Fortress, definitely worth a play if you haven't yet.

For those who don't even know what Unreal World is, its essentially a Survival roguelike set in Iron Age Scandinavia (with elements of Northern Folklore.) Essentially your thrown into a harsh unforgiving wilderness and your job is to survive.

Lionclaw showed this to me a while ago, and I paid for a version a while ago. Haven't touched it in a while though.

Years ago I played this game a lot. This game is really original and I hope commercial RPG developers had a good look at this game. It has it's flaws as it's an indie game and it is old, but definitely worth a try.
