Strategy for patrol in baltic operations

I've been playing with the Sober Mega mod for a few weeks now with real navigation. I understand navigation and can get around the map easily now but I have a few questions.
First, are we only supposed to attack polish shipping during the Baltic campaign at the beginning of the war? Does the sim even take into account what country the ships you attack are from or does anything count?
Second what strategies are the best for finding and getting into a good attack position in the Baltic area of operations. I've tried four bearings but most of the time my target has changed course to maneuver through the narrow areas in the sea between Sweden and Denmark or to get on the right course through Skagerrak. I haven't tried the later campaigns where you get to hunt way out in the deep ocean where the shipping lanes are but I'm guessing 4 bearings works a bit better out there.

I had to max my screen brightness just to see that.:haha:

You must only attack the Polish ships, and baltic operations can be time consuming, because the Admiral Hipper heavy cruiser operates there sinking ships as well, but find the most narrow point Germany and the land above, then dive, and hover underwater using your hydrophones.

I decided to start a new campaign later in the war. Open ocean here I come!

I finished Baltic Operations in less than a month in game time, and it was easy, so why did you skip?:o

In the Baltic Ops all you need to do is sink 2 enemy merchants and you're done. The initial start (the tutorial) is even a part of the requirements.... sink all the ships, don't just fire 4 torpedos. That start date is 03/09/1939 and you head back to Kiel in 2 days time. Then you head back out to the Baltic. I've completed that patrol assignment in 3 days time and back to Kiel on the 19th.

I'm using the 'Change days in bunker' mod to change the "days in port" to 10 and that helps a lot. If your men are in port too long they won't want to leave home. ;) LOL

If you take a month's time, and you're using the stock " 14 days in port", you lose out on completing Breaking The Fortress. Do Breaking the Fortress first, not British Coastal Waters. You want to be leaving Kiel around 29/09/1939 in order to make Scapa Flow and catch the Capitol ships at anchor. ;)

I will have to go back and try the baltics after my current crew is done/dead.

That happens when there are different background colors to deal with. I just drag the cursor over it holding down the left button and it highlights, making it easy to read. :sunny:
