What? Really? I mean, wrestling is a quintessential Olympic sport. Hell, it's one of the few sports that actually has roots back to the ancient games that the modern version is supposed to emulate. What, you're going to have golf, but no wrestling?

It will be replaced with Coach Potato. :88) I do not understand the reasoning. Is golf really a sport or just a game? Soon crochet will be considered a sport.

Yes but apparently in their review of ticket sales and "popularity" it didn't fare well. I guess if they leave it in it will take time away from events that could draw more viewers to the televised broadcast thus increasing ratings thus allowing the broadcasters to charge more for ad time thus allowing the IOC to charge more for the privilege of broadcasting the event.

Eventually they'll probably replace the pentathlon with a ladies' swimsuit competition and a Nascar race.

I'm sure your right. It is probably all about broadcast revenue. Higher, faster, stronger, richer.

It's all about the $$$$. Speaking of dollars. Is pole dancing a sport? Will it draw viewership for the Olympics and find a spot in history?

I sure your right and that's the biggest reason I rarely watch any of it anymore. It's just turned into Olympic Star Search and the competition comes in second.

I can think of a few other disciplines I'd rather see go but as already mentioned, the revenue generated would prevent this.

Wrestling, jumping, running, throwing things...that's what the Olympics are about. Everything else is fluff. I'm not a wrestling fan at all, but I can't think of anything more boring to watch than golf.

The Winter Olympics bug me too. Any so-called competion in which the winner is decided by a panel isn't a sport at all. It's not even a game. It's just more fluff.

They're trying to turn the Olympics into the X-Games. Get rid of all the classical stuff, put more crap like snowboarding, BMX and beach volleyball in. :nope:
