Which mods to use?

Is there a detailed list of which mods are to be used with other mods and in what order they should be entered into JSGME etc...?

Thanks

Welcome to the boat mate. :salute:

TMO and RFB are the biggest super mods and there are versions of RSRD and OTC to use with each. You can't use TMO and RFB together, one or the other. They have environmental mods incorperated into them so don't use any environmental mod with them.

Pick your supermod and add any patches and load that first.
Than load the proper version of RSRD if you want to use that.

Next load OTC if you use that. If you don't use OTC you can use Max Optics and SCAF if you want.

You must read all the documentation for each mod.
Put in each mod one at a time and run the game to see how it works and than add another if all is ok. Keep it simple till you see what is going on.

From this point on there are so many mods it's impossible to make any list.

Best advice I can give you is to make a clean install and before you do anything else make a copy of the Data folder and keep it safe, if things get messed up and they no doubt will, all you need to do is copy the safe data folder in place of the old one. All mods work in this folder. JSGME does a good job keeping track of things but even it has limits.

Install the game in a new folder not program files folder.
Do not use the default SH4.gu to launch the game but find SH4.exe and use that.

I myself use TMO sometimes with RSRD sometimes not.
Right now I'm using SCAF and Max Optics, bad eyes. :wah:
When I finish this career going to OTC.

Others I use are
EAXsound
Map labels 1.3
Webster's better air patrols
OPCFv1.2_yellow_SCAFfor1.5
That's about it.

Good luck and good hunting
Magic

Welcome to the community :woot:

In addition,

Compare your game version to the MOD version... Game version 1.5 doesn't do well with MOD's for 1.4 and vise versa.
When adding a extra MOD to the MEGA MOD and the MEGA MOD it isn't mentioned in the README you can be sure the extra MOD you put on top of the MEGA MOD will not work with it. (although there are exceptions to that rule ).

There are some threads which have MOD lists and som have comments on how to install them with JSGME.

Welcome aboard Fender. Given your name, I think I'll have you check the ballast tanks for leaks.

The mod set-up I use is:
TMO 2.5
TMO 2.5 small patch
Improved Stock Environment v3
RSRDC TMO v502
MaxOptics IV

There are so many mods available, that it is difficult to suggest any kind of set-up. Start with one of the supermods, then experiment from there.

I would second this. If you can find it, get the Gold Edition v1.5. All the latest mods are based on this.

Fireftr18, In the write up for Improved Stock Envronment v3 I thought it said not to use it with any super mods. Then there was a reference to RSRDC and TMO. I see that you use it with both. Have you had any problems running it with those two mods?

There is a version specifically for TMO. It seems to run well.

Gentlemen, thank you for your quick and helpful reply's to my post.
I apologize for not responding quicker, I have been playing the mods
that were suggested and am in awe of the people who created them.
Their mods are works of art ! I hope one day, that I will have just a
basic understanding as to how they created them.

Bravo Zulu gentlemen.

Does operation monsun or RSRDC affect ships damage midel

Hey everyone, I really want to start plain this game because I have had it for a month. However I've noticed the damage mechanics (flooding, fire damage, etc.) for this whole serious is kinda crap. So I'm wondering if either operation monsun or RSRDC modify the damage mechanics of your targets, if not does anyone use a good damage mechanics that is compatible with the two mods I just mentioned?

BillBam 04-23-13 06:59 PM

RSRD is strictly a campaign MOD and has no affect on game play, only the traffic patterns. I believe TMO has modified the sinking mechanics a bit and RFB goes even further but not totally sure.
