Type VII U-Boat Interior Dimensions?
I'm currently looking for any plans or details that provide dimensions / measurements for interior parts of the Type VIIB / C, whether the control room or the engine rooms etc. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated

Anatomy of the Ship: The Type Vii U-Boat by David Westwood has some very clear drawings that can be used to determine scale
The U-Boat: The Evolution and technical histyory of German Submarines by Eberhard Rossler also has some very detailed drawings and technical information. |
Thanks Platapus, been meaning to get hold of the Westwood one for a while

http://isbn.abebooks.com/mz/08/30/0304361208.jpg I was able to pick up s new copy cheap! It's an excellent book, well worth the money. If you can't buy a copy, at least check it out (no pun intended:haha:) through your library. |
Check this image, download it to your computer, if you zoom in you will see the numbers indicating each compartments length

Would this help?
http://www.uboatarchive.net/U-570DesignBook.htm This is the Original U-boat maints mech and operation manul for the type 7. It has a compleate diagram, and operation lables from flooding the tanks to the holding compartments, maybe more than what you wanted. By the time you look over this, maybe you will know the basics of running the real U-boat...:woot: |
Wow this is brilliant thanks
