That's As Good As It Gets???
I have never made more than the rank of Captain in SH4.
But I know from the boys in the office that there are provisions for Rear and Vice Admirals. What in Tar Nation does it take to get to one of those ranks. I have sunk half the IJN, well me and the boys, and never been offered more than Captain. Thinking I could do better in the army.:haha: |

Well that's it...I'm off to see the recruiter.
I always did look better in green.:salute: |
A little reality: Dick O'Kane, top-scoring US submarine ace and Medal Of Honor winner, ended the war as a Commander. He didn't make captain until 1953.
I'm sorry, but Captain is a rank that should not be in SH4. Captains don't command submarines, they command Battleships. Admirals command fleets. |
Funny thing, Navy was always a tradition in my family except for the Civil War, when all the Wards joined the Army instead for some reason. So when my oldest son turned 18 he started to enlist in the US Navy - only to find out he has that common form of color blindness for shades of blue-green. The US Navy requires 100% normal color vision for all rates except stuff like Yeoman and Mess Cook - my son had no interest in typing or slinging hash, so he went across the hall and talked to the Army recruiter instead, chose artillery.

Good on 'im, Sniper! "By golly I'm gonna serve, one way or another!"
I wanted to fly fighters, but when I was ten my eyes went wonky. I joined the navy and became a radioman. |
Nice shot of the 155.
I was in artillery, 8 inch nuclear - Fire Direction Control (FDC) Germany - VII Corp. When the Russians found out I was there, they decided to stay in the Eastern Bloc.:har: |
Great Pic sniper:yeah:
my son-inlaw just joined the RCAF |
I want to fly....if I can't...well...I'll be in the Army. Military Service runs in my family...
My uncle is a General who went through ROTC. He is commanding forces in Germany now. Another uncle was a PA for the Wolfhounds. They made a documentary about his unit while he was in Northern Iraq. He's retired. My Dad went to West Point but didn't get through. He's a lawyer now. My Grandpa also went to West Point. He was in 'Nam just like you Steve. He died in 2006. And I've got more distant relatives all around that fought in various wars. I plan on serving one way or another. :yep:  |
as Sailor Steve mentioned getting those kinds of promotions means you arent in a sub anymore so thats why it isnt in this game, it doesnt make sense to give you a rank that means you arent in a sub so that would mean you arent in the game anymore
they "tried" to keep things "mostly" realistic in the game |
