Smoke,Fire, and Things that roll over in the Night.....
Howdy. Got a few questions and/or ideas for you. First, is there any way to improve the smoke textures? Gets a bit boring watching the same smoke cloud go by while you are waiting for that tanker to sink. Second, is there any way to stop every ship bursting into flames? Many of the ships sunk in WW2 never burned at all. Third, and I am not talking wifes or girlfriends here, what about a rollover mod? In SH4, as I remember, someone had a beta rollover mod. Can this be done in SH5? I have followed some of the posts and it seems you guys are up against it in the programming. But I have also noticed an outstanding amount of co-operation and help. So some thing for you guys to think about. Thanks, Dave

Hi Gap
Yes. It was a rollover/capsizing mod. Don't remember who put it up in SH4. In SH5, I have had a few lean but never roll. Just would like to have that bit of realism. Every ship burning and sinking on an even keel just is not right.

seems a cool mod. I'll have a look at it :yep: |
Thanks Raven
That might be the one. I had to get a new computer over the summer and lost alot of information. The one copy of that mod I have left was on a book drive with all my music. Had a folder with all my SH4 mods in it. The mod didn't have a read me file or name with it. So I will give this one a shot and see what happens. Thanks again, Dave:up: And a slight P.S...I got to thinking about that mod and what I remembered about it. Who ever had wrote it talked about changing the center of gravity on the ships.

Why do you think so? |

moving ships center of gravity toward their metacentre and splitting and/or splitting zone boxes along their lenght :03: |
Hi Gap
Think you might be on to something. I read the article, but it is all greek to me. But as I think I understand the rendering of the ship models( was tinkering around with TDW's editor), wouldn't you just have to shift the axis up just so many scale feet. 5 or 10 maybe. Then use the BARF v1.3 mod by arclight as the base for compartments. Then cutting the center line sounds like a hot idea. Then you would still have the flooding, but just more narrowed down to the zone. I hope that makes sense. Have a good one, Dave
