SH 4 on mac.
Hi all,
a few days ago i found a way to play SH4 on a mac, Only thing you need is the Silent hunter on a CD and this website: http://www.paulthetall.com/ Go to game ports > Simulation games > Silent hunter 4 > download the wrapper > watch to movie and install the game. For me it did real work, i hope for those who try it that it also works. Greetings me. |
Good for you. I've been playing Sh41.5 on my MacBook Pro since last May. I upgraded to Wineskin 2.5.8 in November. I've been able to run most exe's except Mission Editor. Have you? Tell me more about your setup please; wine version, Wineskin wrapper version, engine, any Winetricks used. I also customized the Command.cfg for the MacBook keyboard. Please share.

I think that The mission editor is a special program, so the only way i think you can play it is to download another wrapper install the game on again and then when it is done you have choose wich .exe you want him to start if im right you there is also one called missioneditor.exe you could try that.
srry for my bad english and i hope that you know what i mean otherwise i have to try somethings first and then i will tell you it. greetings me. Hi i did take a better look, what you can try is to press right click on silent hunter > show package content(i think it is called) > start wineskin > Advanced > change exe file to sh4missioneditor.exe and try that. i haven't try it because im at school now and dont have the cd with me. if you want after that play the game again YOU HAVE TO CHANGE SH4MISSIONEDITOR.EXE TO SH4.EXE. |

First, "Hi i did take a better look, what you can try is to press right click on silent hunter > show package content(i think it is called) > start wineskin > Advanced > change exe file to sh4missioneditor.exe and try that. ". You don't need to do it that way, you simply create a Custom.exe via the Advanced option in the game wrapper. This way you select the exe within the SH4 main folder you want to run and it creates a new icon which you name different from the game exe. You also asked about Mods. To do this DL the JSGME mod installer and place it's exe in the game folder, then create a Custom.exe as I described above so you can execute it and install the mods you place in the Mods sub folder. My question re SHmission editor is because it won't run as a custom exe for some reason which I suspect has to do with how the wineskin wrapper supports the drawing aspects of the mission editor, so I' m still looking for a solution ,perhaps with Winetricks , but haven't found it yet. |

yes you are right i dont know much about PC's and stuff so i dont really know what you wright about how you installed the mods, need to read better, and what does DL means? Edit: it means Dowload. But i dont understand what you typed about how to create a custom.exe in advanced i cant find that. Edit: i think that i found it: it is called custom exe creator right?. I use the latest version of Wine i dont know what you mean with engine. but i use a Mac OS 10.8.2, i hope that i can do more then this. even when it is gonna be hard but i also hope that i can learn more. And i really thank you. otherwise you could go to that website and ask paul he know lot more then me. |

What i know is that if you use a old wrapper version you have to update it to last one. that was my first problem when i installed the game a few weeks again it didn't start because the wrapper version was to old. |

Yes, that was necessary because the updated versions of Mac osx 10.7.5 for Lion and 10.8.2 for Mountain Lion(which u r using) caused earlier Wineskin wrappers to fail do to a change required in X11. |

Yes Paul the Tall's web site is helpful, but there is better one for understanding Wine, Wrappers, etc. Go here http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tik....php?forumId=1. This forum is provided by the WineHQ web site. The moderator, doh, is very helpful and more responsive than Paul the Tall's. |
