Help me to set up a naval blockade of North Korea

For the mission I'm working on, a US/European naval blockade of North Korea is going to happen. Here's the thing. I know nothing about how a real military organizes its assets to properly blockade a nation. How far out from the nation's shore should they patrol and how far apart are the ships and what types of assets are usually used?
Can anyone give me some pointers or suggestions? What units should I put where?

I can only advice you of how "we" would do it. Means, the German Navy aka. Deutsche Marine, i'm serving since 3 years, and a littl eit of experience from joint/shared operation with the Royals.

Basically, you need to know what you're blocking, and what Enemy you might expect. Will they likely attmept to break through the bockade, or will they just sit ducks and wait? Or maybe, would the attempt to pass your Blockade with Subs?
Do you plan upon an obvious embargo, blocking off the country with their obvious knowledge to demonstrate political superiority? Or do you want to install a sneaky blockade mainly constructed to sink any passing Enemy Vessel, without them having a clue what's actually happening?

I'd need that info to set up a detailed layer-plan for how to block them off.

The only RL modern naval blockade I know of is the USCuban Missile Crisis.

Since NK is a 2nd rate navy it would probably only take destroyer patrols to effectively blockade shipping. The issue would come from 1) the political will to fire when a ship actually attempts to run the blockade (ie Cuban Missile Crisis) or 2) the response to when a bigger defender, aka China, decides to intervene.

You could start the scenario with sub ISR for WMD survillence. Mission 2 will be mine sweeping and threat assessment. Mission 3 will be fog of war and friend or foe identification coupled with 'respond to the blockade runners'. Mission 4 can be response to an openly hostile Chinese response.

That sounds about what I was thinking. I'm planning to do a bunch of cooporative scenarios. There isn't enough of those in our community.
I like the idea of NK trying to break a hole through a section of the blocade to get something through, or as a distraction to get something through.

It might be interesting to do a tomahawk strike on a completed NK ICBM ready to lift off, or at least the launch facility for their launches.

I was also kicking around the idea of kind of a generic cooperative scenario that can be played multiple times, with different things occurring each time you play, but will still fall in line with a single set of mission objectives.

I have each NK port marked on the map with the exact GPS coordinates of the real ports (There's seven of them). I'm going to put some airports in there too so NK can hit the blocade with some air strikes. China may or may not become involved. I'll probably have a low probability random chance that their ships or aircraft would be there.

How far away from the ports would the ships be patroling and how far apart would the ships be? How many would be alloted to each group and so on? I would also assume that they would be radar active as well as sonar active.

There's unfortunately not a lot of information online about this kind of thing. Probably for obvious reasons. :)
