Any Muscle Car Hobbiests on SubSim????
I know we don't all live and breathe Sub simulations, so I'm going to start a thread to find out if any others are into muscle cars. Post a photo and give a few details on yours.
I've had this 66 GTO since 2007. It's my third 66 GTO. I can't take credit for the paint job or the flames on it. I'd rather it be it's original Martinique Bronze paint, but until I start receiving donations or win a lottery it ain't gonna happen for a while. It's a Baltimore built 4speed GTO with a modified 68 400 XX engine that's now pushing 400hp. 3:55 posi rear, bucket seats, original never sat in rear seat and originally owned by a Mennonite gentleman. The original 389 was too sick to keep in the car but will be rebuilt someday... I guess that will happen when pigs fly. Same for a repaint. Nice car! Muscle cars were not my thing but if I had a choice it would be a 70-71 Torino. I like the body style. Cars from the 50's always captured my attention. I own a 54 Buick Special.

Very nice. I've always been a van guy myself. On the other hand I haven't owned a car in going on eight years.

Steve, vans were cool too. I had an 85 GMC 30 series I put a custom interior in. Had lotsa fun in it too. It even carried my custom 76 Super Glide around. :D |
Personally i do not collect them, my father does and we have enjoyed these two together over the years

Nice thread, GT. I am a muscle car fan. For me, there are only two types of cars: muscle cars and transportation. I don't own one any longer, but I used to own a 1970 Torino Cobra 429, as well as a 1972 Gran Torino Sport and 1975 Starsky & Hutch Gran Torino.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/pict...pictureid=6226 A friend of mine had a 73 Mach I Mustang and another buddy had a '69 Chevelle, same color as the one in John's post. |
^^ I wonder who that car belonged to? :hmmm:

Neal Starsky?

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...arhawk/073.jpg My brother just picked this one up. 1960 Chrylser Imperial Southhampton. I guess the precursor to muscle. She has the 430 wedge motor. 325 horses. Bullet proof like the hemi but the hemi can be massaged much more producing gobs of horse power. http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...k/IMAG0184.jpg |
I bet yer kicking yourself for getting rid of them Neal. Especially the 429 Torino. It's worth some bucks these days. And a rare car to see too.
Nice looking Buick Warhawk. Years ago my grandfather had a 53 Roadmaster back in the early 60s with the visor over the windshield. I always wanted that car when he was done with it. Beautiful car but sadly it caught fire and burnt up. He was sick over that loss. GR, those two are nice. No matter what hang on to them. I've seen too many guys get tire of what they have, sell what they have off, only to kick themselves for years after. And I'm one of them. :wah: THis was a 66 Tempest Custom I had back in 72. Photo is damaged not the car. No rust on it anywhere. I did put the GTO hood and grills in it back then. Sold it because the 2 speed tranny was crapping out. Dumbest move I've ever made. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...pestCustom.jpg And this was the only new car I ever bought. Someone stole the complete interior out of it when I had it in storage back in 94. The only 2 things left in it was the steering column and shifter for the transmission. I did get the 15x8 Snowflakes and the tail lights off it and walked away from it. WS6 79 Formula FB with a set of Recaro bucket seats in it, and the aluminum rear window louvers. After all these years I'm still PO on losing this car. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6.../Formula79.jpg |

Thinking about it, there are some old Mopars from the Muscle car era I would love to have. Not the super birds but the more obscure Mopars. Like a 69 GTX. :D |
I owned several back in the 70's. I'm trying to get my aunt to let go of a 1972
Superbird, 426 Hemi. She got it new, still in great shape overall sitting in a barn in NC. |

AVGW, yeah there's a few mopars I had thought of getting but the Pontiac in me rulled that out. LOL I look at carsinbarns.co from time to time. Some I see really makes me sick. Not because of what they are, but how they've been kept.
Armistead, don't give up. Keep on pestering her about it. If you don't it could disappear... if you know what I mean. Got any photos of it stored away? I belong to http://forums.performanceyears.com/forums/ and we've got some really nice Pontiac photos posted over there.... all year and all makes. If you go and take a look, check out the tech forums as they have owners photos. Most are in the Stickies section at the top. We're no different than the Chevy, Ford or Mopar guys spending their hard earned money. ;) |
