What would Jesus do?

Before everyone pulls their swords and starts wanting to slay each other, it's not a religious thread per say. I was researching an old famous town here in NC regarding Madams. A known Madam was arrested and sent before the judge.

"Judge Dawson Declares Jesus Set "Precedent" To Free Madams
Judge Dawson said he had found a precedent on which to base his judgment accepting the defendants' plea. The judge read from the Bible _ the 8th Chapter of Saint John in which an account of Jesus' encounter with a woman accused of adultery was given. He said that after Jesus "ascertained" that none of the woman's accusers could rightfully accuse her unless they themselves were free of sin, "Our Lord told the woman to go and sin no more."
Crawford reminded Judge Dawson that only one reference to the woman can be found in the Bible and that it did not mention whether or not she was later accused of similar offenses. The madams, he said, had quite clearly been before the Court many times on similar charges.

Judge Dawson was unmoved. He rendered his decision accepting the madams' plea of no contest."

What was funny, later in life this Madam later wrote a book, stating the Judge was one of her best customers, as was the Mayor.

I like the term per say, per se, but it has a high potential for misuse.

You are making fun of someone ... :yep:

perhaps you should start a pun thread :woot:

Solomon the wisest of all Kings said this about women

Quote:

I found that some women are worse than death
and are as dangerous as traps.
Their love is like a net,
and their arms hold men like chains.
A man who pleases God will be saved from them,
but a sinner will be caught by them.

WThell was he using the Bible to make a judgement?
Don't you Guys over there have any better Rule Books / Laws than the Bible?

Nothing against some common sense and some basic and broad rules (he who is free of sin shall cast the first stone, do not steal rape or kill... and so forth) but using religion to rule over people? That is soooo 5th century!

Or maybe State and Religion are not two different things yet?

and yes, it became obvious in the middle of the text, that the judge himself was a customer.

.

Tell me about it. I'm a Christian, but I think that state and religion should be to different things.

next time, give the Judge a copy of a Boulevard gazette... he might find a few hints and tips he can use in order to explain and justify a deff sentence.

*sigh*
