Distant waters suggestion?

Hi there everyone, I hope I am in the correct SUB-heading, if I am not please direct me to place this thread.
I have an observation / question that I hope the SUBSIM community can help me out with. I just recently got to the Distant Waters era and was happy to get the hell out of the Mediterranean and head over to the Caribbean, so before going hunting I decided to get a Caribbean cruise in, to check out the islands and I was surprised and disappointed all in one breath. First off let just say I grew up in the Caribbean and have island hopped in my earier youth so I have a fairly good idea of what the islands look like (at least terrain wise.) SH5 did a great job to represent the terrain features of the real islands :yeah: but I was very disappointed that there were no ports or inhabitants . The island which realy caught my attention was St. Lucia, there are three ports on the island plus an airport. Now hold up before someone says well back in the 1940s.... I happen to know for a fact that a German Uboat actually sailed into the main port and torped a ship in the harbor. My source..my grandmother. So here I was hoping to relive some small obscure history but alas, I was denied. I am currently using Open Herizon and serveral other MODS and my question is there a way to add or alter the terrain of the land masses? I don't mind trying this out myself but I really have no idea where to start, is there a map editor? My goals would be to add these island details that were left out, like adding the ports, buildings, fixing some topographical inaccuracies. and generally making the island look more accurate to the time period not prehistoric, and once that is done release it for the SUBSIM community. I would appreciate any guidance thanks.:D

Sounds like a worthwhile project. Good luck! :sunny:

If you have any questions about adding new harbours/ports- just ask:up:

Ok thanks, I will, but first I want to try using the info provide and see if I can figure it out, if I get stuck or goof things up I'll surely ask.
